Celebrity stylist Jamie Mizrahi is back at it again with an all-new Sweet Baby Jamie capsule collection! Just in time for the fall-to-winter transition, expect cozy textures, seasonal prints and versatile silhouettes designed to be mixed and matched.
We caught up with Jamie to learn more about her design process and to get a behind-the-scenes look at the collection—now available exclusively on Rent the Runway.
RTR: Why are you so excited to be collaborating with Rent the Runway again — what draws you back to the partnership for a third go?
JAMIE MIZRAHI: I love renting and think that it’s something that everyone should consider! Not only is it good for the environment, but as someone who likes to wear the same staples and rotate in new trendy pieces, Rent the Runway is the perfect answer. For me, I can only work with brands and products that I personally want to use myself. I use Rent the Runway and love the opportunity to design both staple pieces and more fashion forward pieces for people to rent.
RTR: Describe your new fall collection in one sentence.
JM: This new collection consists of the perfect fall staples and outfit pairings that everyone needs in their closet.
RTR: What was the inspiration behind this collection?
JM: My friends and clients inspired me. I wanted to create things I know the people in my life would want to wear on a day to day basis – whether they live in LA, NY or Europe.
RTR: Describe your design process: what went into creating the collection from start to finish?
JM: At first I thought of the color palette I was yearning for, for a Fall wardrobe — pale yellows, white, black, burgundy, sage green — then I thought of the silhouettes and pieces I gravitate towards when getting dressed. Sweaters are a necessity for me. I love the idea of overshirts to make a simple pair of jeans and a t-shirt feel more put together as well as a great puffer coat for the colder months.
RTR: What’s your must-rent piece from the collection?
JM: I absolutely love our Black Half Zip Sweater. I haven’t taken it off. It’s perfect with jeans, a skirt, or even over my workout clothes to make me feel more put together.
RTR: What gets your creative juices flowing? Where do you go when you need a burst of inspo?
JM: I travel! Which has been hard for the past two years. I also watch old movies to get inspiration and go vintage shopping — LA has incredible vintage.
RTR: What trend(s) are you most excited for this season?
JM: I’m so excited to wear knee-high boots again.
RTR: What’s your favorite fall/winter tradition?
JM: Putting up my holiday decorations!
