Closet Economics: Why This Brooklyn-Based 30-Something Rents Her Wardrobe

March 2, 2020

Welcome to our new finance-focused series, Closet Economics, where we get real about the real cost of getting dressed. We’ve asked RTR members to share how much they’ve spent and saved on clothes and clothing care before and after joining Rent the Runway. _________________________________________________________

Janelle, who has as been a RTR member for more than a year, joined Rent the Runway after realizing she was spending nearly $200 a month on items that she’d only wear a few times before ending up in the back of her closet or the donation bin. It’s a decision she says changed her life, shopping habits and financial budget.

We stopped by Janelle’s Brooklyn apartment to hear how much she’s saved since joining and see her “after” closet (sneak peek: it’s perfectly petite and organized for her weekly rentals).
